Seeker Becomes Seer: an abyss of memory, the present, and the becoming of rock/metal

The band was formed in 2025 at the Sonastério studios in Nova Lima, and their self-titled debut album is already available on streaming platforms.
Whether in the appreciation of the natural world or the investigation of the human psyche, there is always a temporal dimension of displacement—and, consequently, of tension.
Processing the past and future while aspiring to a subsequent, homeostatic present might perhaps suggest a definition of the “good life.”
Yet, within the temporality of music, logic plays tricks. Even when everything harmonizes, there seems to be a constant desire for movement in music—an inherent drive within the sounds to complete something that is always missing. Turns, counterpoints, folds. Music is time itself: a constant encounter between what precedes, what is missing, and what is yet to come. Even when a song reaches its end.
In contemporary rock/metal, however, this movement seems to mirror the myth of Sisyphus. It is as if there were a temporal disconnect between the classic and the contemporary in the quest for expressive meaning—an abyss of creative possibilities separating elements that could otherwise share the same rhythm. Seeker Becomes Seer emerges from this abyss, reorganizing memories and expectations into a unique statement and harnessing the unknown to generate difference. Seeker Becomes Seer literally offers us a gift: the becoming of rock/metal.
Seeker Becomes Seer was formed in 2025 at the Sonastério studios in Nova Lima, Minas Gerais—a venue that has hosted hugely significant artists such as Milton Nascimento, Gal Costa, Ney Matogrosso, Lô Borges, and Angra, among many others. Indeed, there seems to be a connection between the band’s formation within one of the country’s most important studios and their genuinely authentic musical expression. It is as if the studio walls themselves had infused the genius of those artists into Seeker Becomes Seer’s rock/metal sound.
Currently comprising Lucas Donnard (vocals), Bruno Barros (guitar and backing vocals), Rodrigo Peixoto (guitar), Filipe Marks (bass), and Thiago Caeiro (drums), Seeker Becomes Seer’s self-titled debut album was released in 2026 and features nine tracks: “C137”, “Be Not Afraid”, “Blood, Fire, Doom & Death”, “500 Years”, “It Follows”, “Skeleton Key”, “Black Sun Rising”, “Quaestio Mihi Factus Sum”, and “Seeker Becomes Seer”.
Labeling the musical style of the Seeker Becomes Seer album is misleading. There is no single reference point, no single aesthetic. In Seeker Becomes Seer, there is only—and therefore, everything—the potential for what has been and what is yet to come.
Music videos for the tracks “C137”, “Blood, Fire, Doom & Death”, “500 Years”, and “It Follows” were released prior to the album and are available on the band’s YouTube channel. Meanwhile, “Skeleton Key” is the most recent track to be released with a video.
