Recorded live at the Burn Fest Open Air 2026 festival, the new music video showcases the explosive energy of the quartet that has been revolutionizing the European alternative scene.
📻 EDITOR’S NOTE: From fan to fan—no borders, no algorithms.
“Anyone who grew up devouring the pages of photocopied fanzines or iconic magazines like Rock Brigade, Roadie Crew, and Valhalla knows the feeling well: extreme music was never about numbers, likes, or the cold engagement metrics of social media. It has always been about the urgency of spreading the art. A love for the underground is the fuel that drives us to scour the globe in search of authenticity. That is why we created Fora do Radar. This column answers to neither automated corporate emails nor market interests; it is a manifesto of pure curation. In the previous edition, we celebrated the visceral genius of the acoustic guitar within the avant-garde metal of Brasília’s own Kaatayra. Today, we were surprised by a direct email from Slovakia. The band Wolnera—operating independently and through sheer grit on the other side of the ocean—has crossed digital borders to resonate here on NoiseRed. This third edition is living proof that extreme music knows no borders. From the depths of the Brazilian Cerrado to Eastern Europe, our role remains the same as it was thirty years ago: connecting those who create with their hearts to those who listen with their souls. From fan to fan. Enjoy the read!”
Independent metal knows no borders, and living proof of this is the meteoric rise of the Slovak band Wolnera. Founded in 2023, the young group has already garnered two nominations for the Radio_Head Awards—Slovakia’s largest and most important alternative music awards. After catching the underground’s attention with the raw thrash of Product of Fear (2023) and the technical prog complexity of Building Reality (2025), the band is now embarking on its most ambitious chapter.
Less than two months after the release of the acclaimed single “Art of Losing,” Wolnera is back with “Desperate For A Drop”—a new single and music video that definitively puts retro influences to rest and fully commits the band to a modern metal sound centered on strong songwriting.
Festival Energy and Top-Tier Production
Unlike scripted studio music videos, the video for “Desperate For A Drop” captures the band’s natural habitat: the stage. The footage was entirely shot and edited by Štefan Šimuni during the group’s electrifying performance at the Burn Fest Open Air 2026 festival.
Watch the official music video below:
The track’s massive, polished sound reprises the successful collaboration with producer Radovan Kočík (Košice), who handled the recording, mixing, and mastering. The instrumental arrangement perfectly balances heavy guitars with immersive synthesizers—courtesy of the creative mind of Ľubo Luterán (vocals and guitars), joined by Ľubomír Baran (guitars) and Lukáš Husivarga (drums)—alongside bass tracks recorded by Jakub Hríbik at the renowned Pulp Studio.
