“Prince of Darkness,” a track from Pandemic Politic, is based on a true story about violence against women.

Formed in 2001 in the city of São Roque, in the interior of São Paulo state, Infernal Course is one of the bands most respected and admired by extreme metal fans in Brazil.
This is because, beyond their proven technical and creative quality, the group has always remained faithful to the original aesthetic of old-school death metal, carrying on the legacy established by the genre’s great pioneers—such as Possessed, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Sodom, and Death.

Since their self-titled debut demo—hailed by the renowned magazine Valhalla as the “Best Demo Tape of 2003”—Infernal Course has been building a loyal fan base. Indeed, their debut album, The Devil’s Sentence of Destruction, was one of the most anticipated releases in the genre in 2009. By the time its successor, Impaled Society, was released in 2016, Infernal Course was already a significant name in the national metal scene, and the album received high praise from the specialized press. “Fallen Gods” and “Marching In Hell,” both featured on the tracklist, have since become all-time classics of Brazilian death metal.

With their past now firmly established, Infernal Course is set to embark on a new, hellish path in 2026. Pandemic Politic is the title of the band’s third and upcoming album, due for release later this year.
Recorded at EMMP Studio in São Paulo and produced by the band’s own guitarist/vocalist, Paulo Serafim, Pandemic Politic features 11 tracks: “Mystifying,” “Blind Faith,” “Lucifer’s Night,” “From Deeply In Hell,” “Princess Of Darkness,” “Pandemic Politics Of Shit,” “The Evil Is By Your Side,” “Bloodied Skies,” “Masturbation For Divine,” “Divine Insanity,” and “Feast From The Devil,” alongside two bonus tracks: “The Devil’s Sentence Of Destruction” and “Judas Be My Guide” (an Iron Maiden cover).

Among the tracklist highlights is the song “Princess Of Darkness,” which is based on a true story about abuse against women. Paulo Serafim explained a bit more about the context behind the composition.

“We hear daily reports of violence and abuse against women. The song ‘Prince of Darkness’ tells the story of a young woman abused by a prince who, shielded by his crown, denies the allegations and moves on with his life, unpunished. This true story ended tragically with the woman’s death just a week after we finished the song. It would therefore be symbolic to feature a female voice on the track.”

The guest appearance Paulo refers to is by none other than Kristina Vega, former vocalist of Cobra Spell.

“She absorbed the intensity of the lyrics and embodied the character, using the full versatility of her voice to treat us to a deeply profound interpretation—one that took the song to a dimension we hadn’t imagined,” commented Paulo regarding the contribution of the Spanish vocalist, who currently fronts the prog-metal band Serapis Project.

Kristina Vega, for her part, also spoke about her participation in “Princess of Darkness.”

“Ever since I first set foot in Brazil during the Cobra Spell tour in 2024, I fell in love with the country and really wanted to collaborate with a Brazilian band someday. Thanks to Eliton Tomasi from Som do Darma, we were able to make that happen. It was a great pleasure working with Infernal Course on this incredible song, where I was also able to showcase a more guttural side of my voice. It was also very special to lend my voice to such a powerful, real story, conveying a message that is so relevant today. I really hope you enjoy it. And I hope to return to Brazil soon—this time with my prog-metal band, SerapiS Project.
